Comprehensive Prevention

Dental Exams

A comprehensive dental exam will be performed by the dentist at your initial dental visit and at your dental cleanings. These comprehensive exams include

  • Oral cancer screening
  • Periodontal evaluation
  • Xray examination
  • Examination for tooth decay
  • Examination of existing restorations
  • TMJ examination

Your dental cleaning or dental prophylaxis is preformed by a dental hygienist. This cleaning will include a dental exam and the following

  • Removal of plaque
  • Removal of calculus
  • Teeth polishing
  • Digital Xrays

Digital Xrays

are the latest advancement in dental xrays. Dental xrays provide essential information at the time of your dental exam and are considered the standard in dental care. This examination can reveal

  • Cavities or decay
  • Abscesses
  • Cancerous and non cancerous lesions
  • Bone loss
  • Developmental issues

Dental problems can go unnoticed without regular dental xrays.

Fluoride Treatment

Fluoride treatments have been effectively used in dentistry to help prevent cavities for longer than 40 years. Fluoride treatments can help strengthen the enamel of teeth making it more difficult for cavities to start. We recommend fluoride treatments every six months.

Sealants are a coating applied to the biting surfaces of the premolars, molars and any grooves of teeth. Sealants make it harder for cavities to affect teeth.

Night Guard Therapy

Night guards are used as a treatment option to prevent damage to the chewing surfaces of the teeth associated with grinding and clenching. It is a conservative treatment that is very successful and highly recommended for patients with TMJ dysfunction. Night guard therapy can also protect your teeth from excessive wear.
